Bought by Manchester City from Alianza Lima for just over £2m, Kluiverth Aguilar will move to the Etihad in July once he turns 18.
Until then, he remains in Peru, where he continues to feature regularly for his side’s first-team, giving him minutes on the pitch to develop before his big move to Europe.
However, it appears he won’t be staying long in Manchester, if at all, since Het Belang Van Limburg report on Monday that a decision was taken by the City Football Group ‘on Sunday’ to send Aguilar to Belgium with Lommel SK.
It’s reported the right-back will be loaned from July 1st for the 2021-22 season, allowing him time to adapt to life on a new continent all the while fighting for a first-team spot.
That seems far more preferable than him playing with Manchester City’s U18s or even their U23s, as it’ll be a smoother transition than just throwing him at the deep end of English football.
Either way, the Etihad faithful will have to wait a bit longer before seeing their long announced investment in a City shirt and might want to keep an eye on Lommel’s performances next season, just to see how he fares.
