After months of speculation, it appears Manchester City may finally be able to get Joao Cancelo and it’s thanks to Danilo.

City have been keen on Cancelo for some time but unable to move for the Portuguese defender until they could get rid of Danilo.

That is something they’ve now achieved, with Tuttosport reporting that a move to Juventus is now on the cards as the player has reached an agreement with the Serie A champions.

Juve chief Fabio Paratici met with Danilo’s representatives in Turin and thrashed out a deal that suits all parties.

The Brazilian has a contract worth €5m per year until 2022 with City, but Juve have offered him €4.5m a year until 2024 and that suits Danilo as it gives him a deal until he’s 34-years-old.

The only thing stopping the deal is Manchester City, who have asked to postpone the move until after the Community Shield clash with Liverpool on Sunday. It’s a deal they want to get done, though.

Tuttosport explain it suits all parties. City are getting Cancelo, a player Pep Guardiola has long wanted, while the player gets a move to England with a team that ‘represents at the highest levels.’

Juventus, meanwhile, put themselves in a better financial position and Danilo gets a more significant role at Juventus than the one he enjoyed at Manchester City.

Everything is pointing towards this deal being done sooner rather than later with all parties clearly keen on the move and getting it over the line.
