The Catalan media seem to be rather more fond of Harry Kane to Real Madrid stories than the Madrid leaning media in Spain.
That’s at least partly because they love building Real Madrid up for a fall. If they can link Florentino Perez with serious attempts for 20 superstars and he only signs 4, then that gives them 16 players to claim Real Madrid failed on.
This weekend Mundo Deportivo claim Daniel Levy has already spoken to Kane’s representatives about a Tottenham exit. The Spurs transfer strongman is said to have made it clear that any exit will be for a huge amount, around €200m.
Levy stated he doesn’t want another Luka Modric situation and everything has to be club to club and clean, without a soap opera. A straightforward €200m operation, it all sounds so easy.
It’s the next step which will make Tottenham fans laugh: ‘Harry Kane enjoys the support of Mauricio Pochettino, not only because the former Espanyol coach is in pole position to succeed Zinedine Zidane, but because the coach of the ‘Spurs’ considers his striker as a great professional who has always been fully committed and who deserves the opportunity to make a leap in his career.’
So, let us get this right. Pochettino will back Kane to move to Real Madrid, because he thinks he’s getting the managerial job there anyway? And if he doesn’t get that position, he’s cool with it because Kane, still just 24 years of age, deserves it?
Ok.
Perez hasn’t yet started an effort to sign Kane, say Mundo Deportivo, but if and when he does, and probably if he doesn’t, the Catalan newspaper will be ready to mock failure… because they’ve already set everything up for it.
