Crystal Palace have had their first bid for Santos star Lucas Lima rejected, but they still have a chance of landing the Brazilian in this window. The Premier League side have been linked with Lima in the past week.
TMW have revealed Crystal Palace tabled an offer of €15m to sign Lima, but this was turned down by Santos. The South London club initially wanted to take Lima on loan for €5m, and then pay €10m.
However, the Brazilian side will only sell the player for €20m, and are now waiting for Crystal Palace to improve their offer in order to land the midfielder before next weeks’ deadline.
Despite having a bad season, Lucas Lima is a very intelligent and skilful midfielder who has shown a lot of good things in the last couple of years. Lucas Lima’s release clause is said to be €60M.
Lucas Lima has had offers from Porto and China last year, so hired Wagner Ribeiro to be his agent, who also works with Neymar and Lucas Moura, to try and attract bigger clubs. However, If Lucas Lima doesn’t have an EU passport, a work permit may well be an issue too.
