There was a time when Watford were still in the Premier League and there was still hope the Hornets could avoid relegation to the Championship.
This was something Ismaïla Sarr’s agent wanted, knowing full well the drop would mean his client likely needing to move from Vicarage Road after a decent season at the club.
That’s unfortunately what happened, and we’ve now been bombarded with late reports that clubs are actively trying to sign the Senegal international, including Liverpool, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion.
The first two have been mentioned earlier this week, with claims from France Football that talks had started with the Reds regarding a move for Sarr while the Villains were keeping an eye on things.
Well, now we have Wiwsport in Senegal reporting as an exclusive that Crystal Palace and West Brom have joined the fray.
Sarr has missed the first four games of the campaign, which leads them to believe Watford would be willing to sell, although the outlet explain there’s a set price of £50m that needs to be matched in order to acquire the player.
Wiwsport claim Crystal Palace and West Brom have ‘positioned themselves to recruit Sarr’, having ‘entered the dance’, joining Liverpool in going ‘straight for the player’s entourage and his club’.
The Eagles are reportedly ‘looking for a future replacement for Zaha’ and ‘want him from this season onwards’.
As for West Brom, they have ‘also made their interest known’.
Despite this, it’s made clear both the Eagles and the Baggies are behind Liverpool and Aston Villa, who have ‘already started negotiations’.
And if you’re wondering where this information may have come from, it’s worth noting Wiwsport have previously interviewed Sarr’s agent, Thierno Seydi, about his client.
