A week ago today, Sport Witness covered claims from Voetbal international that Jairo Riedewald was set to sign a ‘multi-year’ contract with Crystal Palace.
Even then it felt like a ‘finally’ situation, with the defender seeming on the verge of moving to Crystal Palace for a while. The 20 year old was set to sign his contract in London before flying out to Asia and joining Crystal Palace on their preseason tour.
Yet a week later and he’s still not a completed transfer.
Voetbal International journalist Freek Jansen has an update on Monday, explaining Riedwald is set to sign his Crystal Palace contract today.
It sounds similar to last Monday, but Jansen states the formalities have been sorted out, albeit slowly, and now it’s really going to happen.
Earlier reports in the Netherlands suggested Frank de Boer had beaten both Newcastle United and Everton to the signing, although it was later claimed Ronald Koeman had decided to look at other targets instead.
