Crystal Palace have shown an interest in Nacional left-back Matías Viña but are yet to submit a formal offer for the 22-year-old.

Palace are looking likely to have a busy end to the transfer window, with them making late moves to improve Roy Hodgson’s squad.

One area they may have to add in is left-back as Patrick van Aanholt is the subject of interest from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven.

Should he leave, Crystal Palace will need to replace him and the man to do that could be Viña, with El Pais, through Ovacion Digital, saying Palace are one of several clubs to have watched him.

The Premier League club have shown ‘more interest’ in Viña, and while they have not sent a formal offer as yet, there is speculation that should it arrive ‘in the next few hours’ it will be ‘very good’.

That remains to be seen, but if Palace’s interest is genuine, they may need to move quickly to get their man ahead of the competitions.

According to the newspaper, while Crystal Palace are yet to make an offer, there are ‘concrete offers’ from Palmeiras and AC Milan.

The Brazilian club have offered $3.5m for 50% of Viña and included a series of bonuses. For example, if he plays a certain amount of games in his first year, Palmeiras will buy 10% more of his rights for $1m.

They will then buy another 10% if he plays more games in 2021 for the same price.

So in total, they would buy 70% of Viña for $5.5m, which is a deal that Nacional’s leadership is said to view with ‘good eyes’.

Milan, meanwhile, have proposed a loan deal with an option to buy instead. The Italians would pay $1.2m for the initial loan and then have a purchase option at $6m. There are also a series of clauses involved to take the price higher.

Nacional’s directors are ‘evaluating’ both offers, but they are not convinced by a loan deal, preferring a permanent sale. Perhaps that is something Palace will offer before the transfer window slams shut.
