Just a couple of days ago, we covered a story in the Italian media that Sebastian Prödl, currently barely used at Watford, could be on his way to Udinese.

The idea was for the Serie A side to turn their attention to the Austria international in case Sebastien De Maio left for pastures anew, but that hasn’t happened yet.

Despite this, it appears Prödl could still find himself as part of what we now like to call a ‘Pozzo Special’, swapping one club owned by the Italian family for another.

The news comes from Eurosport in France, who report that, according to their information, the 32-year-old is ‘close to Udinese’.

They don’t offer any more details than that, but that’s certainly a step up from two days ago when the veteran was only being considered in case a player left.

We’ll have to wait and see what comes of this, but it would certainly make more sense for him to go somewhere he can feature regularly as he’s only managed three measly appearances in all competitions for Watford this season.
