Recently linked with a handful of goalkeepers, Crystal Palace appear to be either going after a Wayne Hennessey replacement or trying to find someone to back him up once Julian Speroni calls it a day.
Over the past 24 hours, the Eagles have been linked to Frederik Rønnow, Brondby’s 25-year-old shot stopper, as well as Getafe’s 30-year-old Vicente Guaita, and now a third name has popped up: Lukasz Skorupski.
The one-time Poland international is a name Crystal Palace fans might recognise from the summer, when the London side were said to be interested in the AS Roma goalkeeper.
The 26-year-old spent last season on loan at Empoli, but Wojciech Szczesny’s return to Arsenal and subsequent transfer to Juventus means he’s now in Rome as backup for Alisson.
However, this probably isn’t going to last long, as Gazzetta dello Sport explain Genoa are interested in signing him if they lose Mattia Perin come the end of the season, and he’s already told them he’d be up for it.
This is all ‘despite interest from Crystal Palace’, suggesting the Premier League side never really let the interest die down, even if it was Frank de Boer in charge at the time.
It seems to use like the Eagles are just being used here to show how nice it is of Skorupski to be happy to join Genoa by rebuffing the mighty appeal of the Premier League.
We’ll see if more comes out in the coming days.
