What seemed like a very likely deal before the transfer window is quickly becoming one of the more annoying and frustrating sagas of the transfer window so far.
Brought in as their star signing last season, Crystal Palace’s Steve Mandanda didn’t have the luckiest of breaks in his first Premier League campaign.
Starting the first nine league games under Alan Pardew, the goalkeeper then suffered a knee injury that kept him out for most of the season, by which time, when he returned, Sam Allardyce had given the starting to job to Wayne Hennessey and the club were doing well.
However, Crystal Palace weren’t exactly keen on letting him go cheap, and have apparently set the price at around €8m, which is far beyond what the Ligue 1 club are willing to pay.
A first offer of around €1m was made, laughed off by Crystal Palace, and now Le10 Sport 
are reporting in their monthly magazine that a second offer was made last week, this time verging on €2m.
Broken down as €1.5m + various bonuses that could take the deal to €2m, the bid is also expected to be rejected by the Eagles.
Yet, despite their clearly unrealistic demands of €8m, Le10 believe Palace would accept an offer of around €3-4m for the goalkeeper.
Either way, a new bid will need to be made, it seems.
