Jairo Riedewald joined Crystal Palace from Ajax in the summer of 2017 and in his debut season, the Dutchman played 436 minutes in the Premier League.

He’s had four appearances to his name this season, out of which three came in the EFL Cup and one in the FA Cup.

Despite limited playing time under Roy Hodgson’s guidance, today’s edition of Spanish newspaper AS claims he is the ‘chosen one’ for Celta Vigo as they look to strengthen the defence in January.

The 22-year-old can play in the heart of the back four or as a left-back, and the transfer is ‘close to taking shape’.

It’s claimed the Dutchman is set to become the La Liga outfit’s first signing of the winter market.

Celta have liked his profile and the fact that he’s already represented Netherlands. They believe he has good control over the ball and this has convinced them to sign Riedewald.

AS’ report doesn’t mention the details of the transfer fee, but they seem confident the deal is close to being agreed between the Spanish club and the Eagles.
