Crystal Palace are the ‘most enthusiastic’ club in the race for Fenerbahce midfielder Ozan Tufan but will have to up their efforts if they are to get him.
The Turkish midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Selhurst Park this week, with several reports in the country claiming they have made a €10m bid for him.
It’s believed that offer was swiftly rejected by Fener, who are said to value their star man at €20m but will accept €15m as a bare minimum.
Crystal Palace are yet to match that, but it has been reported that they, and fellow suitors West Bromwich Albion, were expected to raise their bids in due course.
They also say that they have offered €10m for his services, but do not say whether that has been rejected or not. Indeed their stance, as it was earlier this week, is that it will be looked at in due course.
Sporx, however, have a different take, stating that Tufan is ‘very close’ to the Premier League and that Palace have made an offer after watching him ‘closely’ for a long time.
The 25-year-old also has suitors from Germany and France, while several Italian sides recently scouted him in the win over Alanyaspor.
They back up claims that the Turkish side want €15m for their man but add that they are keen to sell as they plan to use the money from the sale to fund the arrival of Mesut Ozil from Arsenal.
Apart from the €15m asking price, that’s the first indication that Fenerbahce are open to a sale and them using the money for Ozil would make perfect sense.
Thus, it seems if Crystal Palace can find a spare €5m somewhere then a deal for Tufan is there to be done.
