Portuguese newspaper Record today reports an English race for the signing of Belenenses defender Tomas Ribeiro.
Premier League sides are said to bel trying to sign the 22-year-old before the deadline day, but only of them is named, and that’s Crystal Palace.
The Selhurst Park side reportedly made the ‘first bid’ for Ribeiro after having representatives in Portugal to watch him play against Moreirense last week.
Crystal Palace’s bid, however, wasn’t good enough to convince Belenenses. Record claims it was ‘too low’, and, therefore, turned down by the Lisbon club.
The newspaper says there are ‘other English clubs’ who are interested in Ribeiro, although none of them presented their bids yet. Belenenses would negotiate his move, as they wouldn’t ‘cut his legs off’, but will only do that for the right price.
In case he doesn’t get any decent bids, then he’d sign a new contract with the Portuguese side. Record just doesn’t say if there’s any chance Crystal Palace could show up with a better offer.
