Crystal Palace have joined Aston Villa in the race to sign Barcelona youngster Abde Ezzalzouli as several clubs try to tempt him away from the Nou Camp.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say Crystal Palace ‘took information’ on the player’s situation and the possibility of a move before the end of the window.

Abde has been heavily linked with a move away from Barcelona over the last few weeks as they look to raise funds to complete their own business.

Several sides across Europe have shown an interest in him, including Aston Villa, with reports over the last few days indicating they’re keen to get a deal done.

Indeed, a report yesterday stated that they had already made an offer to the player, suggesting that the matter was progressing, and they could push to get it over the line sooner rather than later.

Now Crystal Palace could be about to compete with them, with FM reporting they’ve been in contact to ask about the player’s situation.

They explain that Abde is looking into a departure as it’s clear he’s not a part of Xavi’s plans and needs regular playing time moving forwards.

Abde has given Real Betis priority at this point but that hasn’t stopped other clubs from showing an interest, including Bayer Leverkusen and now Palace, who ‘took information’ but don’t seem to have progressed beyond that at this point.

That can always change of course, particularly as they’re yet to replace Wilfried Zaha, something they’re sure to want to do before the window closes.
