Following the collapse of his move to Monaco, Adama Soumaoro returned to Lille’s preseason tour and could even stay at the club.
That’s what La Voix du Nord hint at on Monday in their print newspaper following a meeting with his manager over the weekend.
As things stand, the centre-back has two offers to take under consideration after both Crystal Palace and a still to be named Bundesliga side bid €14m for his services.
The fact he could now stay suggests a move to Selhurst Park isn’t high on his list, as there’s always the possibility of playing in the Champions League if he sticks around at Lille.
However, should Soumaoro leave, whether it’s for Crystal Palace or Germany, it’s mentioned Celtic’s Jozo Simunovic could interest the Ligue 1 side as a replacement after Christophe Galtier commented on the defender recently.
There’s still hope for the Eagles, but they might have to convince the 27-year-old a bit more.
