Crystal Palace are one of the clubs interested in signing Lens midfielder Cheick Doucoure, according to claims from France.
On Twitter, Foot Mercato journalist Fabrice Hawkins writes that the Premier League side are joined by Wolfsburg in the chase for the 22-year-old.
It’s said Crystal Palace are ‘in contact’ with the player’s entourage. However, it seems this is just a starting approach for now, as no offers have arrived at Lens so far.
Doucoure, who is protected with a contract running until 2024, is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €10m.
This isn’t the first time Doucoure has been linked to a Premier League club, as in the past year, reports from France have been claiming he’s drawn the interest from Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur as well.
Now with Crystal Palace apparently making the first moves ahead of a summer transfer, perhaps their intention is to get there early before more English clubs move for his signing again.
Making efforts ahead of what is likely to be a highly competitive summer market makes sense for the London club.
