There’s a growing pattern, which has been building for a few years, of officials from Italian clubs travelling to London ahead of transfer windows.

They then meet various Premier League sides and the aim appears to be building interest in players and getting the highest price possible, hence the concentration on the English market.

Crystal Palace are involved in the latest claims, with Gazzetta della Sport reporting the Eagles ‘can get serious’ to sign Matias Soulé.

The 20-year-old versatile player is on loan at Frosinone for the season, but is owned by Juventus. The Turin club see him as a way of getting cash through the door without losing anyone from their current squad.

Matias Soulé has scored six goals and contributed an assist in 12 Serie A matches so far this season, and that’s why there’s interest.

Along with Crystal Palace, Newcastle United are also in the picture and Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli has flown to London for a ‘full-scale blitz’ on the club’s outgoing transfer market.

Juventus would be hoping for €20-25m from one of the two Premier League clubs, which they could then invest in their own squad.
