Amid rumours of an exit from Manchester United, and all the drama attached to that, Cristiano Ronaldo was spotted in Portugal on Monday afternoon.
Journalist Pedro Sepulveda reports that the forward arrived at the national team’s training facilities, proving that the player is still in Lisbon despite what should be his first day of pre-season at club level.
The report adds that Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United is ‘still uncertain’, given his wish to play in the Champions League, something the Red Devils didn’t qualify for last season.
This morning, the Old Trafford side confirmed that despite having many players returning to the club, the Portuguese star was granted permission not to attend training due to family reasons. It had just not been communicated that he was still in Portugal.
Following his absence, the English media returned with more stories claiming Ronaldo wants out of Old Trafford this summer, with Chelsea now showing up as a possible scenario for him.
Napoli links have been dismissed in Italy.
Unless the player travels back to Manchester this evening or early tomorrow, then he won’t be training at Carrington on Tuesday either.
