During the summer the Spanish media really didn’t care too much about Diogo Jota joining Wolves from Atletico Madrid on loan.
It hardly got any coverage in the Spanish media, aside from a claim that Jota wasn’t keen on the Wolves move, but Nuno Espirito Santo managed to talk him around.
After 5 goals and 1 assist in 8 Championship matches, Jota’s move to Wolves is now being taken seriously. Spanish newspaper AS say he’s flying on loan with Wolves, but it’s unclear what that will do for Jota’s Atletico transfer future.
It ‘remains be seen’ if Jota will get his chance with Atletico next summer, after loans with Porto and Wolves.
Over in Portugal, there’s been more widespread coverage of Jota’s Wolves adventure. As often happens in Europe, the Portuguese press are especially interested with how English fans are taking to the player.
O Jogo say Wolves fans are already singing for their new hero, and carry a video of that happening. Although it’s not much of a chant yet, just ‘Diogo, diogo’.
Those Wolves fans have gone ‘crazy’ for the youngster, and it’s something the Portuguese press will continue to cover, and now it seems the Spanish too.
