Following his contract being extended until the end of the season, Nampalys Mendy could very well end up staying at Leicester City beyond the current campaign.
At least, that’s what the latest reports from France are suggesting, as his chances of returning to Ligue 1, with Claude Puel’s Saint-Étienne interested, are slim because of his wage demands.
The last report we covered came from Le10 Sport, who revealed the Foxes had offered Mendy a chance to stay, and he’s thinking about it.
Their latest article on the matter, published in Friday, explains the player and his representatives have ‘entered a new phase’ because ‘talks have started’ with Leicester.
While the offer ‘hasn’t been accepted for now’, the midfielder is reportedly ‘considering’ staying at the King Power Stadium.
After all, if no clubs in France can meet his demands and he’s being given a chance to still prove himself in the Premier League under Brendan Rodgers, why not stay?
