Inter Milan are planning to re-open contract renewal talks with defender Milan Skriniar as Tottenham’s interest in him ‘scares’ those in charge of the club.
That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, who say the Italian club are now keen to get the Slovakian locked into a new deal to ensure he remains at the club.
The newspaper explains that there is only one ‘urgency’ on Inter’s agenda, and that is Skriniar, whose current contract is set to expire in 2023.
He is proving to be ‘irreplaceable’ in the team, and it is because of that Inter Milan are now aiming to protect themselves and lock him into a new deal.
Skriniar has ‘admirers’ abroad, and Tottenham are one of them, with the arrival of Conte at the club something that scares Giuseppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio.
They know the Tottenham manager is a big fan of Skriniar, having made him a key player during his time in charge of the Serie A side.
Several reports in the last few months have indicated that he would like a reunion, but Inter are now looking to ensure that cannot happen.
They are ready to go back to the negotiating table and work out an agreement, although they will need to make an economic effort to convince the player.
Fortunately, Skriniar would like to stay at the club, and that is an ‘excellent starting point’ for Inter to ensure he doesn’t reunite with Conte at Tottenham.
