Barcelona star Ousmane Dembelé is the ‘dream’ signing for Antonio Conte at Tottenham as he looks to add more attacking options to his squad.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say the Italian coach has targeted Dembele and a central defender in the January transfer window.
Tottenham are expected to be busy next month as Conte gets his first chance to wield his influence on the squad he has inherited from Nuno Espirito Santo.
It’s believed he has been promised backing by those above him, and this window could be a big one because of that.
For the latter, the ‘dream’ signing is Dembelé, whose contract with Barcelona is expiring next summer and has offers from everywhere.
Newcastle have been pushing for him for some time, but their courtship ‘seems to have little effect’, and so Tottenham are making their moves.
According to TMW, they have been in contact with his entourage about a possible move ‘for some time’ and for Fabio Paratici and Conte he is the ‘first name on the notebook’.
They would like him in January and while Barcelona have not given up hope of the Frenchman signing a renewal, it cannot be ruled out that they will look to sell next month after closing a deal with Manchester City for Ferran Torres.
Should they do so, Tottenham will be there waiting to try and get their man, with their manager and director of football in unison on the potential transfer.
