Tottenham are willing to ‘sit at the table’ and discuss a deal for Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni this summer.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who say the centre-back is ‘strongly wanted’ by Antonio Conte, who helped launch him into ‘big football’.
The website explains that while Inter do not desperately need to sell players this summer like they did last year, they still need to make a ‘profitable market’ and sacrifice someone in the squad so they can reinvest.
With a growing sense that Stefen de Vrij will be staying, someone else in the squad will have to be sold, especially as Inter are eyeing a move for Gleison Bremer.
That is not something the club or manager Simone Inzaghi want, but they are aware that the ‘offers would not be long in coming’ for Bastoni.
That’s because he is ‘strongly wanted’ by Antonio Conte and Tottenham, with the Italian coach being the man who ‘launched him into big football’.
The former Atalanta man recently renewed his deal until 2024 with a salary of €3m that can rise to €4m with bonuses.
Tottenham would have no problem increasing that figure and could also likely ‘satisfy’ Inter’s transfer demands, with them ‘willing to sit’ at the table and negotiate a deal starting at €45m.
At the moment, the idea of selling Bastoni, or Skriniar, is only a ‘secondary scenario’, and Inzaghi is dreaming of pairing those two with Bremer in his defence.
The issue is that De Vrij does not have many suitors, particularly not at the €25m Inter need to sign Bremer, so they may be forced to sell the likes of Bastoni to Tottenham if the money is right.
