Late on Wednesday, Calciomercato in Italy made it clear that Diogo Dalot’s desire to leave Manchester United was heading in the right direction.
He’d already said yes to a move to AS Roma, and there was hope that a deal between the two sides could be struck, with a loan and a right to buy included being studied.
This is followed up by Corriere dello Sport on Thursday, who explain ‘contacts started a long time ago’ regarding a move for Dalot, who is ‘willing to return to Italy’.
As things stand, ‘Manchester United managers must be convinced to negotiate the loan (€1.5m up front) with the obligation to redeem linked to an adequate number of appearances’.
While this is all positive, it is pointed out that ‘it will not be easy for Roma to bring him back to Serie A for economic rather than technical reasons’, but Tiago Pinto, the club’s technical director, ‘is trying’.
There’s still some confusion as to where Manchester United stand in all this, but the general consensus is that if a deal between the two sides can be sorted out, then the rest will follow without a hitch.
