Just six months after arriving at Watford from Anderlecht in January 2018, Javi Gracia allowed Dodi Lukebakio to join Fortuna Düsseldorf on a season-long loan deal.
The 21-year-old impressed during his time in Germany, scoring 14 times and registering three assists, and his performances have drawn attention from the clubs in the Bundesliga and Ligue 1.
According to France Football, Lille have identified the winger as a target to replace Nicolas Pepe.
The Ivory Coast international is set to leave the Ligue 1 outfit in the summer, with Manchester United reportedly being interested in the player who has 20 goals and 11 assists in the 2018/19 season.
Lille have to replace Pepe and have looked at various targets so far. It’s claimed that ‘one of the most serious tracks’ leads to Lukebakio and ‘contacts exist’ with the Hornets owned player.
The French side are trying to seduce him with their project and Lille has become an attractive destination after they sealed a berth in next season’s Champions League.
Lyon were believed to after the attacker, but France Football explains they are no longer in the chase.
Lukebakio’s contract at Vicarage Road runs down in 2022 and the report states Watford value him between €10m and €15m.
