With Chelsea currently unable to offer their players new contracts, the situation of Antonio Rüdiger has once again become a hot topic in the transfer rumour mill.
The German’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer, and while there was a belief the centre-back could eventually renew with the Blues, that all came to a sudden stop when the British Government imposed sanctions on Roman Abramovich.
This caused a number of European sides to come knocking on the Chelsea man’s door with their offers, among which can be found Juventus.
Gazzetta dello Sport bring the latest on the situation, explaining that those in charge of transfers at the Serie A side ‘have already begun the great manoeuvres’ to sign a centre-back.
It’s made clear that Rüdiger is ‘the most popular name’, mostly because Max Allegri likes him ‘a lot’.
The main issue in this remains his wages, believed to ‘start from €8m/year’, but that hasn’t stopped the fact that ‘contacts have already started’ between Juventus and the Chelsea defender.
Whether they become anything concrete remains to be seen, and could also all depend on how quickly the Stamford Bridge gets sold to its next owner, whoever that might be.
