Barcelona want to strengthen their midfield in the summer window and Everton’s Amadou Onana has been identified as one of their targets.
The La Liga side’s interest in the 22-year-old has been discussed in the Catalan media for the past several weeks and Friday’s edition of Sport provides the latest updates.
Barca sporting director Deco is looking for a midfielder who not only suits the club’s style of play, but also ‘provide physical display’. This is where the Everton star fits in and he’s been on the director’s radar for a while.
In fact, the Belgium international is liked by both Deco and Xavi Hernández, and Barcelona have already been working on the possibility of securing his services. It’s explained that the Blaugrana have been ‘in contact with his agents for a long time’.
Deco is keen on bringing the Toffees player to the Camp Nou, but it won’t be simple for him and his side to secure Onana’s services.
Sport state Sean Dyche’s side value the former Lille man at €60m, which would be too high for Barcelona.
Everton have secured a place in the Premier League next season and therefore, it’ll not be easy for Xavi’s side to lower the price for Onana.
