Tottenham’s interest in Nice winger Vincent Marcel isn’t anything new.
There’s been some talk over in Italy about the young French forward recently because Palermo’s owner, Maurizio Zamparini, explained they tried to sign him, but the interest of ‘Spurs and other big clubs’ was making things difficult.
The 76-year-old even admitted the Serie B side had made a €3m bid for the 20-year-old, but it seems that offer was dismissed by the Ligue 1 side.
The original claims of Mauricio Pochettino’s interest in Marcel came from Foot Mercato in France towards the end of June when the French website claimed the youngster had agreed a five-year contract with the Premier League side, but that Nice had yet to hear anything from them.
There hasn’t been an update from France about an offer from Tottenham, and if the French outlet know of personal terms already being agreed, you’d expect them to know about a bid.
This doesn’t mean Spurs are definitely going to sign Marcel, but if Nice are dismissing offers from Palermo for their young talent, it’s probably because they know they can get more from somewhere.
That, and maybe the player himself isn’t all that keen about Serie B football after making 10 appearances for Nice last season.
