Wolverhampton Wanderers could be without Yerson Mosquera for a while, according to a report from Colombia.

The centre-back suffered an injury in Wolves’ 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend. He was stretchered off the field and Gary O’Neil admitted his setback “doesn’t look good”.

Caracol Radio journalist Edward Acero took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide the latest on the Wolves player’s situation.

Acera claims the Colombia international has sustained a blow to the ‘medial collateral ligament’. He adds that there’s also a fear the defender’s cruciate ligament in his left knee is ‘compromised’.

It’s still not clear the timeframe needed for the 23-year-old to recover from this setback. It won’t be soon though as the journalist says Mosquera will miss October’s international break.

The South American arrived at Wolves from Atlético Nacional in 2021. He was out on loan at FC Cincinnati and Villarreal for 18 months, before returning to Molineux in the summer.

O’Neil included him in his plans and Mosquera made five Premier League appearances this season.

The defender’s setback will be a blow for both Wolves and Colombia.
