Manchester City’s interest in Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez is taken pretty seriously by the Italian media.
Despite highlighting Barcelona’s chase for the player, newspaper Tuttosport shows how threatening the Premier League side could be in the battle for the striker.
The outlet says these are the two clubs who have been in touch for his signing since the January transfer window, and could pay his release clause of €111m.
It’s claimed that Barcelona see Martinez as a replacement for Luis Suarez, and Manchester City think the same about Sergio Aguero.
And even though it’s claimed Barcelona could pay Martinez €8m per season, which is way more than what he makes at Inter Milan, Tuttosport has no doubt that Manchester City could match such an offer.
However, there’s some concern that Pep Guardiola’s side could not afford the transfer due to Financial Fair Play. Tuttosport doesn’t seem to know the exact maths behind it, but make it clear the Premier League side could only pay that much in case the balance ‘allows’ them to.
