If all the European reports were to be believed, then there’s a really close race going on between Chelsea, AS Monaco and Juventus for the signing of Aleksandr Golovin.
It all kicked off when the Ligue 1 side’s vice-president revealed an offer had been made for the CSKA Moscow star, as well as a five-year contract.
Then came a spate of reports stating Chelsea had overtaken the principality club following Maurizio Sarri’s arrival, only for Juventus to return to the fray, looking to ‘overtake’ the Blues.
Well, if Le10 Sport are to be believed on Friday, then Monaco have pulled off an amazing feat by going past both clubs in one swift movement thanks to a €35m offer.
Considering CSKA Moscow were asking for around €30m for the Russia international, you’d expect that to be accepted, and the French website believe Dmitry Rybolovlev’s club are entering the ‘final straight’ of the deal, described as being ‘in an excellent position’ to sign the midfielder.
Should this be the case, then the ball is firmly in Chelsea’s court now.
What will they do? Does Maurizio Sarri really want Golovin? If so, how badly? We could be about to find out.
