Giannelli Imbula is closing in on a move to Rayo Vallecano, reports AS in their Monday edition.
The Spanish newspaper state that whilst Getafe and Levante have also been keen on the Stoke City player, it’s looking like Rayo are set to sign him.
On loan at Toulouse last season, Imbula is again looking for a way out because he’s not too keen on playing in the Championship, believe AS.
It’s then stated that Imbula ‘has been compared in England with Yaya Toure’, which is probably leading Rayo fans to expect a little more than the midfielder’s past few seasons justify.
Sure enough, Imbula himself has spoken about the former Manchester City player, but it was more to explain how he was inspired by him.
In March 2017, Saido Berahino said Imbula is like a young version of Toure, when the now club-less midfielder was at his very best.
The talent is there, but Stoke haven’t seen enough of it, Rayo must be hoping they can release Imbula’s inner Yaya.
