Liverpool may be facing a different Paris Saint Germain at Anfield Road for the Champions League group stage next week.
As reported by outlet L’Equipe this Thursday, the French side could have some problems in midfield as Marco Verratti is suspended and can’t feature in the match.
Verratti has been sidelined with adductor problems since early August, and has only returned to training with the squad this week, so may not have featured anyway.
Even though the Italian international claims to be ready to play, manager Thomas Tuchel knows he can’t just include the player in the match-day squad.
The manager reportedly expects Verratti to be completely fit only for the match against Red Star, which happens two weeks after the Liverpool clash.
PSG face Saint Etienne on Friday, and L’Equipe believe Marquinhos could play a role in midfield, due to his teammates absence. Then he would likely do the same against Liverpool.
L’Equipe explains that it would make some difference in the team, as the Brazilian doesn’t have the same passing skills as Verratti.
That could be good news for Jurgen Klopp.
