Fiorentina’s efforts to sign midfielder Lucas Torreira on a permanent basis from Arsenal have hit a snag after a falling out with his agent.

That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who cover the situation today after Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso hit out at the agents involved earlier today.

Torreira has been on loan with the Italian side since the summer, with Arsenal electing to send him out as he was not a part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.

He’s been a big hit for the Serie A side, so much so that they are looking to make his move a permanent one if they can.

There had been reports that a deal was close to being completed, but it appeared to have hit a snag when Comisso came out complaining about agents this morning.

TMW follow that up stating that Fiorentina’s latest attempt to get the Arsenal midfielder ‘ended badly’. In fact, they have broken off contact with his agent after the latest round of negotiations.

The website explains that Fiorentina had asked for a large discount from the agent compared to what was previously agreed, but that was not appreciated by Torreira or his representative.

They had one last contact yesterday, but that confirmed the distance between the two parties, and at this moment in time, the ‘rupture’ seems to be ‘truly irremediable’.

There could be new contacts in the coming days in an effort to reach an agreement and ‘mend the rift’, particularly as Fiorentina do not want to lose Torreira after his performances this season.

In the meantime, Juventus are keeping an eye on the situation and could take advantage to snap the Arsenal man up for themselves as they plan their own midfield rebuild.
