This Thursday, CalcioMercato have exclusive news which should excite Juventus fans due to the club’s interest in N’Golo Kante. However, if you read it right, the scenario doesn’t look so good for the Italian side.
According to CalcioMercato, Juventus are looking for one more midfielder for the next season. Pjanic and Pogba (who could stay or not) are not enough, as the club’s plans are to make the strongest squad as possible. Kante was offered, so they already considered themselves in a good position for the signing.
But in their first contacts with Kante’s agent, Juve’s representatives have learned that the player is very unlikely to leave for less than his €25m release clause. The problem is that the Italian side don’t want to pay that much, and would be expecting for Leicester to drop the price so the deal can happen.
They make it sound like a simple deal for the most optimistic fans, but it’s not. If you consider that CalcioMercato mentions the competition of PSG, Real Madrid and other Premier League sides, it’s very unlikely that this race will be won by some club who expect a discount on his release clause, which for the current standards, isn’t high at all.
Leicester aren’t fools, and won’t sell one their best players for a bargain. Juventus are very good in the transfer market, but getting Kante for a knock-down fee is simply unrealistic.
