After struggling for regular minutes in the first half of last season, Everton allowed Cenk Tosun to join Beşiktaş on loan in the winter market.
The striker managed three goals and an assist in three league matches before his loan stay with the Turkish club was cut short due to a serious knee injury.
Tosun is continuing his recovery on the sidelines and earlier report from Fotospor stated he will not be able to return to the pitch until November.
Fotospor had also explained the 30-year-old wants to focus on regaining full fitness and then think of making a switch to the Süper Lig side in January.
According to Sabah, the Turkey international’s return to the pitch will be delayed until the start of the next calendar year.
Beşiktaş were reportedly thinking about re-signing the Toffees frontman in the winter market.
Sabah now explains Beşiktaş will ‘wait’ until next summer to secure Tosun’s services, when his contract with the Merseyside club will expire.
Tosun’s current salary at Everton is deemed high for the Turkish club. Beşiktaş, however, can sign the Toffees player ‘under better conditions’ when he will be available on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.
Beşiktaş’ ‘plan is ready’ and they will be allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement with Tosun from next January.
