Milliyet have today published an update about Cenk Tosun’s proposed move to Everton, and Besiktas won’t stand in his way of a ‘dream move’ to the Premier League.

There have been reports in the Turkish media in the past few days a deal with Everton should be sealed early this week.

The Turkish newspaper say the Besiktas board arranged a meeting last week regarding selling Tosun to Everton, and the following statement came out: ‘When he first arrived at this club he decided to give up money from his previous club and rejected Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, who both offered more for him, to join Besiktas.’

‘He has always put in 100% and worked very hard for the sake of the team. Now, he wants to move to England to open a new chapter on his career, which is perfectly fine.

‘Everton have also offered record money, we should take that and leave him to join the Merseyside club. He deserves that move and we should allow him to complete his dream transfer.’

According to Milliyet, Besiktas president Fikret Orman will meet with manager Senol Gunes on January 3rd to discuss what to do next following Tosun’s expected transfer to Everton this week.

The Turkish side have been linked with a number of forwards in recent weeks, with the latest being Leicester City’s Islam Slimani. The Algerian is struggling to get games with the Premier League side, and could move on in this window.
