On Friday, journalist Nil Solà reported Girona have decided to make a big investment to sign Watford’s Yaser Asprilla, who is their priority target.
Thursday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo backs that up and says the winger is the La Liga side’s ‘big bet’ this summer.
Asprilla managed six goals and eight assists from 47 games last season for Watford. He has attracted interest from various clubs across Europe, including Girona, Leicester City, Stade Rennais and FC Porto.
The French club ended their interest due to a high agent fee. Leicester and Porto have also withdrawn from the bidding, so this leaves the Spanish club as the favourite from the financial point of view.
Mundo say the Hornets won’t make it easy for the Colombia international leave. He’s the priority target for Girona and it needs to be seen whether they can find an agreement with Watford.
AS state Girona see the South American as the ideal target to replace Savinho. It won’t be easy or cheap for them to sign him because Watford’s request is ‘greater than 20 million’ [likely in euros].
Asprilla ‘welcomes’ a move to Girona because he can play in the Champions League. The La Liga side ‘will charge forward’ to convince Tom Cleverley’s side. They are running out of time and will have to make a decisive move soon to secure the attacker’s services.
