Following reports from the European media at the weekend saying Manchester United are interested in Benfica goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos, the Portuguese press has now something to say about that.
Local reports reckon that even though the 28-year-old is close to the exit door at the Estádio da Luz, there actually isn’t much evidence that the Red Devils are coming after him.
Newspaper Correio da Manhã is one of those speaking about that.
They claim that Vlachodimos representatives have been, for months, ‘actively looking for a new club’, and the only side they actually found a deal with had been Leicester City, with whom the agreement already collapsed.
The outlet says Benfica demand around €15m for the transfer, and they seem to know nothing about Manchester United going after him before the end of the summer window.
Meanwhile, Record comes up to say that despite the news regarding the Red Devils’ interest, the Eagles have actually not received even an approach from Erik ten Hag’s side.
Benfica don’t have Vlachodimos in their plans and even look for a new goalkeeper.
That’s a reason why they’d easily let him go, but with the lack of offers, he may end up staying at the Luz for longer. That’s just one of the evidences that Manchester United are not in touch for him.
