When Facundo Pellistri was bought from Peñarol by Manchester United, there was a lot of excitement, as it meant a potential star in the future.

However, there is a feeling that, despite a first good loan at Alaves, the Uruguay international’s development has stagnated a bit, and some more game time is needed before he can have any sort of real impact at Old Trafford.

One of the potential destinations for another loan is Bologna, according to Quotidiano Sportivo, who explain the Manchester United forward is being looked at by the Serie A side.

It’s claimed that at Casteldebole, the Bologna HQ, ‘they are also working’ to sign Pellistri from the Premier League side this season.

QS explain that Manchester United are ‘open to a loan with a right of redemption’, meaning that if he does well enough and Bologna show the Red Devils the money, they could sign him permanently.

That seems a bit surprising, unless Erik ten Hag has made it clear he prefers other players over Pellistri in the long run, but what would help the Italians here is something already in the winger’s possession.

They state he has a ‘valuable Italian passport’, meaning he wouldn’t count as a non-EU signing, and would be able to slot right into the squad without causing too many administrative headaches.

Something to keep an eye on, as other teams are also said to be after the Manchester United player, such as FC Twente.
