Eric Garcia to Barcelona continues to be a daily topic in the Catalan sport media.
Having tried to sign the Manchester City defender in the last window, Ronald Koeman’s club are now preparing for a battle in the January market. Given Garcia’s contract expires at the end of the season it’s thought to be simply a matter of time before he ends up at the Camp Nou.
Koeman feels his squad needs another central defender, however, Barcelona are determined and ‘will not yield’ to Pep Guardiola’s side in the winter market.
Monday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo reports that despite the La Liga club being determined to sign Garcia, it all depends on Manchester City making him available for a ‘reasonable price’ during the next market.
There’s no indication of what Barca consider to be reasonable, but it’s almost certainly a figure less than €10m.
Should they not be able to get Garcia for a low price then it’s stated the club will and not go for another low-cost option in January. They’d instead prefer to cope with what they have and potentially promote someone from the B team.
Even if Manchester City comply with what Barca want, the Catalan club would still need to sell a player to make room on the wage bill.
