Alexis Mac Allister today, formerly of Brighton & Hove Albion stardom, gave an interview to the Argentine media, and even though he’s now shining at Liverpool, the Seagulls got a specific mention.

That’s because Valentin Barco has just joined Roberto De Zerbi’s side on a move to Boca Juniors, and this week made his debut for the club.

Speaking to DSports, Liverpool midfielder Mac Allister was then asked about Barco and his chances of succeeding in the Premier League with Brighton.

“Yes, I saw that he made his debut yesterday. I couldn’t see it, obviously. I think he is in a club that will help him a lot to keep growing and adapt quickly to the Premier League. I have no doubt that he is trained to do it, but obviously it will take time.

“Perhaps the physical difference between the Argentina and the league here is very big. But as I said, he is in a team and a club that tries to play football very well and puts a lot of young players.”

It was in January that Brighton officially reached a deal with Boca Juniors for Barco, paying €14.1m for his signing.

He just recently joined the Seagulls’ squad, and made his debut in this week’s FA Cup clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers, with De Zerbi’s side losing 1-0 and getting knocked-out of the competition.

Brighton are certainly hopeful that Barco has the same success as Mac Allister, who gave them a big profit in little time at the club.

Signed by the Seagulls on a €8m deal from Argentinos Juniors, the midfielder was then sold to Liverpool for €42m last summer.
