Feyenoord will ‘have to absolutely break’ their transfer record if they wish to sign Luis Guilherme from West Ham United this summer.

That’s according to journalist Martijn Krabbendam, via Football Transfers, who reports that the Dutch side will need to dig deep into their pockets.

Guilherme has struggled at West Ham since moving in the summer transfer window, barely featuring under Julen Lopetegui or Graham Potter.

Feyenoord were keen to sign him on loan in the January transfer window but saw the move fall by the wayside as an injury to Crysencio Summerville late in the window saw West Ham decide to keep the youngster instead.

That has not killed their desire to sign Guilherme, though, and several reports from the Netherlands have made it clear that they will explore the idea again this summer.

Working out a deal with West Ham will not be easy, with the Hammers wanting to recoup as much of the €23m they paid last summer.

Krabbendam admits that will be an issue for Feyenoord, who also have other matters to consider before making a move.

“The problem with Guilherme is that he is actually a right-wing striker,” he said in a video for Voetbal International.

“That’s where they have Anis Hadj-Moussa running now, If they are going to buy Guilherme, they will absolutely have to break their transfer record. Because it really is a great talent, who will not come to De Kuip for five, six, seven, eight, nine, even €10m.

“(Hadj-Moussa) has developed incredibly well, including in the Champions League. Is it then wise to get Guilherme as well, who should also play immediately if you buy him?’

“For now, given the current situation up front, I don’t think Guilherme is a priority yet. (On loan) you have him for a year, then he gets better for another club, so Feyenoord do want to just buy him.”
