AC Milan remain keen on Charles De Ketelaere, report Corriere della Sera, but they ‘certainly’ won’t match what Leeds United have offered for the player.
The Italian newspaper report Milan have made an ‘ultimatum’ to Clue Brugge, because they want to sign the Belgian quickly and on their terms. After their offer of €28m fixed plus a further in €3m in potential bonuses was rejected, the Rossoneri are set to return with a fixed fee of €30m.
They won’t go as far as €35m, and will ‘certainly’ will not match the €37m believed to have been offered by Leeds United. Instead, they’re relying on the player’s desire to sign for them.
Quite what Milan’s ‘ultimatum’ means isn’t explained, but reading between the lines it appears to be that this would be the final offer, and therefore Club Brugge will be pressured to accept.
Whether they will or not isn’t clear, yet if the Belgian side say no, and Milan walk away, then that presents a fresh chance for Leeds United to convince De Ketelaere.
The situation is similar to that of Sven Botman, who wanted a move to the Serie A side but settled for Newcastle United when Milan couldn’t agree a fee with Lille.
Now it’s a waiting game for the player and the clubs involved.
