Turkish website Fotospor report Fenerbahce board are looking to start a campaign to sign Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.
It’s claimed the Turkish side want to see their fans donate money to the club for the signature of the Arsenal attacking midfielder.
Fenerbahce are hoping to raise €3m in this way for Ozil, and the rest of the money will be paid by the club’s directors.
The Yellow Canaries have been repeatedly linked with a move for the 31 year old, with Ozil himself previously stating that he’s a childhood Fenerbahce fan.
Ozil’s future at Arsenal is up in the air with Mikel Arteta leaving him out for their game against Manchester City on Thursday night, and with him failing to get off the bench in the loss to Brighton. The German has also come in for criticism for not agreeing to take a pay cut during the Covid-19 outbreak.
This season, Ozil has made 23 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions, scoring just one goal. His contract with the Gunners will expire at the end of June 2021.
