French side Amiens are eyeing up a move for Celtic defender Osaze Urhoghide as they look for a replacement for Formose Mendy.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say Urhoghide is being ‘targeted’ by Amiens after Mendy left to join FC Lorient this summer.
They need a replacement for the defender and the Celtic defender is the man they want to fill the void left behind by the 22-year-old.
Urhoghide has recently returned to Celtic Park from a loan spell at KV Oostende, where he has been since January 2022.
He was a regular for them last season, making 27 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League as well as two in the Croky Cup, but his status at Celtic remains to be seen.
Brendan Rodgers is still assessing his squad following his return this summer and decisions have to be made in central defence, with Urhoghide one of six central defenders currently in Celtic’s squad.
With Cameron Carter-Vickers, Carl Stafelt, Stephen Walsh, Yuki Kobayashi and Liam Scales also at Rodgers’ disposal, there is certainly room to let Urhoghide leave Celtic this summer.
Amiens are seemingly looking to take advantage of that as they look for a replacement for Mendy in the coming weeks.
