Last week, Sky Italia’s Francesco Modugno reported a senior Newcastle United official was in attendance to watch Napoli star Victor Osimhen in action against AC Milan on March 6th.
Modugno made these claims days after reports in Italy stated the Magpies are ‘very likely’ to make an offer to sign the 23-year-old.
The striker has impressed for the Serie A side, managing 15 goals and four assists from 25 matches in all competitions this season. His form has attracted interest from Eddie Howe’s side and a few other clubs.
According to Alfredo Pedulla, the Naples club want to be prepared to replace the former Lille man, in the event he were to leave his current employer after this campaign.
Luciano Spalletti’s side have probed Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca, but have other names on their list and it includes Chelsea’s Armando Broja, who is now on loan at Southampton.
Napoli like the Albanian a lot and ‘want to be ready’ to make an approach for Broja, if they were to receive a ‘mega offer’ for Osihmen from the Tyneside club and/or other clubs.
The report adds Napoli are protecting themselves for a super offer in excess of €80m from the Premier League, where Newcastle are named as the Nigeria international’s main suitor.
