Turkish newspaper Takvim report Fenerbahce are interested in signing Aston Villa’s Mbwana Samatta ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Tanzanian forward joined Villa in the winter market, after their first-choice striker Wesley picked up a serious injury.
Samatta has failed to make a real impact with the Premier League side since his arrival and has only managed to score one league goal in 12 games.
According to Takvim, Fenerbahce will be closely following Aston Villa’s situation and will make a loan offer if the Birmingham club are relegated.
It’s claimed the player and Villa have a verbal agreement which will allow him to join another club if they don’t maintain their top flight status for next season.
The 27 year old has also been linked with a move to Fener’s arch-rivals Galatasaray, and there could be a transfer battle between the two of them this summer.
He is under contract at Villa Park until June 2024.
