Earlier this week, we’ve seen Portuguese newspaper A Bola revealing Sporting’s interest in Brighton & Hove Albion fullback Tariq Lamptey.

It was claimed that with the Lions looking for a reinforcement for that position, the Seagulls’ player is ‘well referenced’ by them.

Today, A Bola is back with a story on this chase, this time claiming Sporting want to ‘accelerate negotiations’ with Brighton for Lamptey.

It’s said that following an approach in January, the Lions are interested again and the contacts ‘will intensify’ soon after the end of the season, with them trying a ‘decisive blow’ to get him signed this time.

Sporting are believed to have two main struggles. The first is to convince the player to leave the Premier League, and the second is that Brighton had been demanding €15m for him in January.

What could give the Lions a chance is that Lamptey struggled with injuries this season, and the the club are hopeful that offering him some regularity could attract him to Lisbon.

For now, it isn’t said how much Sporting are willing to put on the table to get the fullback signed.
