Rumours linking West Ham’s Reece Oxford with a move to Borussia Monchengladbach have been flying around for a few days, without being taken overly seriously by the German media.
That seems to have changed, with Bild publishing an article on the potential deal. The German newspaper explain that Gladbach see Oxford as a replacement for Andreas Christensen, who is set to return to Chelsea after his Bundesliga loan.
Gladbach want Oxford on loan for a two year period, just like the agreement they had for Christensen, but Bild say West Ham only want the player to leave them for one season.
There still seems to be some optimism that an agreement can be found, and Bild label Oxford as a ‘logical’ successore to Christensen, hoping the West Ham player could have a simialr impact.
It’s a lot to ask, the 21 year old Chelsea loan player has been one of the best young defenders in the Bundesliga, to expect the same from 18 year old Oxford is asking a lot.
